Hello, gaming enthusiasts! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise releases! This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's excellent news for gamers. We'll cover the latest news, review the new eShop games, and list the current and expiring sales. Let's dive in!

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved clever, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include surprise game releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remakes, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a complete picture. It's a treasure trove of games for diverse tastes.

Spotlight on New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania collection joins the fray, a welcome surprise from the Direct. This release features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously poor arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an improved M2 remake. M2's expertise shines through with excellent emulation and desirable features. An incredible value for the price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch as another Direct surprise. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will adore this. Even those without a strong Wario connection but who enjoy platformers should definitely check it out. A review is planned, time permitting.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprise releases continue! It's Wednesday, and these shadow drops are a welcome addition to the usually sparse release schedule. Goat Simulator 3 brings its signature chaotic gameplay to the Switch. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (given struggles on more powerful consoles), its inherent chaotic nature might even enhance the experience. Silly goats, silly antics, open-world mayhem – it's your call whether your Switch can handle it.

Peglin ($19.99)

EA's missed opportunity to bring PopCap games to the Switch is a topic worth mentioning. However, Peglin scratches that Peggle itch admirably. Previously available on mobile, this title blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming for more detailed insights.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft injects fresh energy into its simulation formula with this Doraemon licensed title. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story offers standard Kairosoft shop sim gameplay, enhanced by the popular Doraemon characters and even appearances from characters from the manga artist's other works. A charming addition to the genre.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans! Supporting up to eight players via local or online multiplayer, this cooperative puzzle game thrives on numbers. The gameplay remains largely unchanged, making it a strong addition for fans but less likely to attract newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple but enjoyable for the price.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A classic Sokoban-style puzzle game with a penguin twist. One hundred levels of crate-pushing await.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles challenge players. Utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems, with local and online multiplayer for up to four players.
