Okami 2: Director's Dream Fulfilled
Hideki Kamiya, renowned game director, returns to the industry with a highly anticipated Okami sequel, marking the culmination of an 18-year dream. This follows his departure from PlatinumGames after a two-decade tenure. His new studio, Clovers Inc., is developing the game, with Capcom serving as publisher.

A Long-Awaited Sequel

Kamiya, known for directing iconic titles like the original Okami, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta, has long expressed his desire to complete the Okami narrative. He previously revealed his unsuccessful attempts to secure a sequel from Capcom, highlighting his commitment to resolving the original game's unfinished storylines. This new project finally fulfills that ambition.
Clovers Inc.: A New Beginning

Clovers Inc., a joint venture with former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama, pays homage to Clover Studio, the developer of the original Okami and Viewtiful Joe, and reflects Kamiya's deep connection to his early Capcom teams. Koyama manages the business aspects, allowing Kamiya to focus on game development. The studio currently employs 25 people, with plans for gradual expansion. Kamiya emphasizes a shared creative vision over sheer size.

The team includes several former PlatinumGames employees who share Kamiya and Koyama's creative philosophy.
Departure from PlatinumGames

Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames, a company he co-founded, surprised many. While he remains tight-lipped about specifics, he alludes to disagreements over game development philosophies. The opportunity to collaborate with Koyama, who shares his vision, proved pivotal in establishing Clovers Inc.
A Softer Side?
Kamiya's online persona is known for its sharp wit and sometimes blunt interactions with fans. However, the positive response to the Okami sequel announcement has prompted him to publicly apologize for past harsh comments, showcasing a more empathetic side. He's even been seen unblocking fans and engaging more positively with the community.
