"Oblivion Remastered's Top Mod: Ultimate Engine Tweaks Boosts PC Performance"

If you're among the many enthusiasts of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* on PC, you might have encountered its fair share of challenges. According to the tech gurus at Digital Foundry, the remastered version is plagued with significant performance issues. Video producer Alex Battaglia described it as "perhaps one of the worst-running games I've ever tested for Digital Foundry."

"Even if you're equipped with the most powerful hardware available, the stuttering is so severe that it significantly detracts from the gaming experience, leaving me puzzled as to how this was deemed acceptable for release," Battaglia remarked.

"Beyond the constant hitching, this game is bizarrely demanding on system resources. You might find yourself lowering settings just to maintain a decent average frame rate, even if you can tolerate the stuttering," he added.

PlayGiven these performance issues, it's no wonder that the most popular mod for *Oblivion Remastered* on Nexus Mods is P40L0's 'Ultimate Engine Tweaks (Anti-Stutters - Lower Latency - No Film Grain - No Chromatic Aberration - Lossless),' which has amassed an impressive 386,604 downloads in under a week.

The mod's description states: "Definitive Unreal ‘Engine.ini’ changes with the goal to remove most stutters, improve performance and stability, decrease input latency, improve picture clarity. All with no visual loss."

P40L0 elaborated, "After months of UE5 testing, I wanted to share my definitive custom ‘Engine.ini’ changes for the game. My aim was to incorporate as many optimizations as possible across CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD to eliminate most stuttering, boost performance, reduce input latency, and enhance picture clarity (e.g., by eliminating Film Grain & Chromatic Aberration, optimizing DLSS/FSR upscaling, and more), all without compromising visuals or causing glitches or crashes."

The feedback from users who have tried the mod has been overwhelmingly positive. "Stutter be gone! Simply amazing, thanks!" exclaimed chubbyd07. "This .ini is a miracle. From 15-20 fps outside the prison to 65-70 stable. Running on 3600XT and a 2060 with 20GB of RAM (yes)," added yeeto51. "Uhm, what the hell! I went from 60fps on High Preset around Waynon Priory to 90-110fps on the same location. Wizardry!!" said BabaSmith.

Despite its PC issues, *Oblivion Remastered* continues to enjoy immense popularity, boasting a high concurrent player peak on Steam and over 4 million players across all platforms. On Steam, it holds a 'very positive' user review rating.

However, a recent hotfix released on April 25 has disrupted the UI settings for graphics, particularly upscaling and anti-aliasing, for players using the Microsoft Store version (those playing via Game Pass for PC). Currently, these players are unable to adjust those settings due to the issue. Bethesda has acknowledged the problem and is working on a solution.
