Nintendo Switch 2: Official Reveal Expected This Thursday

A reputable leaker, NateTheHate, claims the Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially unveiled on Thursday, January 16th, 2025. This aligns with Nintendo's past practice of making major announcements on Thursdays – mirroring the original Switch reveal in 2016. The Verge's Tom Warren corroborates this information. An early 2025 announcement strongly suggests a first-half 2025 release.

The Switch 2's existence has been widely anticipated, with mass production reportedly commencing in late September or early October 2024. Numerous hardware leaks have further fueled speculation. Nintendo previously committed to an announcement before March 31st, 2025.

Extensive Leaks Precede Official Announcement

The upcoming reveal might not be a complete surprise, given the extensive leaks surrounding the Switch 2 over the past months. The sheer volume of leaked information even prompted a rare acknowledgment from Nintendo regarding a replica console.

Rumors suggest the Switch 2 will be slightly larger than the Switch OLED model (approximately 270 x 116 x 14mm), featuring an 8-inch LCD screen and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons. The right Joy-Con may include an extra "C" button, possibly related to a rumored mouse-like pointer function.

Launch Title Lineup Remains Unclear

While the console's specifications are relatively well-known, the launch game lineup remains shrouded in mystery. While titles like My Time at Evershine and Bestiario are confirmed for the Switch 2, a day-one release for either is unlikely. Nintendo is expected to include at least one or two major first-party titles to drive initial sales.
