Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Cuts Charging Time in Half

May 30,25

Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is now a much quicker affair compared to its predecessor. According to Nintendo Life, the revamped $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller takes approximately three and a half hours to reach full capacity when using either the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. This is nearly half the six hours required by the original Pro Controller.

Despite the faster charge time, the Switch 2 Pro Controller retains the impressive 40-hour battery life of its predecessor. In addition to the speedier charging, this model introduces several enhancements. It features a new C button, adds two extra GL/GR buttons on the underside, and is both lighter and more compact than the original.

For those who prefer sticking with their old controllers, rest assured that the original controller remains compatible with the new console system.

Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 during a recent 60-minute Nintendo Direct. Pre-orders were initially scheduled for early April in the U.S., but due to tariff concerns, the launch was postponed to April 24. Although the console price stayed at $449.99, most accessories saw price hikes, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
