"Nintendo Switch 2 Leaked Video Removed Early"

May 28,25

It appears that some individuals have managed to get their hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 before its official release, despite Nintendo's efforts to prevent early leaks. Unfortunately for those eager to see more, the console is reportedly unusable without a day-one patch, and a brief eight-second YouTube video showcasing the unboxing was swiftly taken down due to a copyright strike.

The video, originally posted by user Ali Almarzooqi and viewed by IGN before its removal, displayed what appeared to be a genuine Nintendo Switch 2 box being opened to reveal the console, still wrapped in plastic. The video's authenticity is further supported by the rapid copyright claim filed by the anti-piracy firm Web Capio. However, the poster, Ali Almarzooqi, mentioned that they won't be able to confirm the console's legitimacy until June 5, as it allegedly requires a launch day update to function.

Adding to the intrigue, popular deals poster Wario64 reported that another individual had shared photos of their own Nintendo Switch 2. This second person also encountered a message when attempting to boot a game from the original Switch: "Please connect to the internet and update your system." While these could potentially be elaborate fakes, the truth may soon be revealed if either owner performs a full unboxing or displays the system message prompting an update.

Until the official launch on June 5, our understanding of the Nintendo Switch 2 will continue to rely on the information released by Nintendo. So far, we've had the opportunity to play Mario Kart World on the new system, and recent updates have included details on free performance upgrades for Switch 1 games, variable refresh rate support, and the GameChat feature, which will require phone number verification. Despite the rapid sell-out of pre-orders last month, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has reassured fans that there will be sufficient stock to meet demand through the holiday season.
