Nintendo Switch 2: Fans Decode New Game Case Size

May 14,25

Nintendo Switch 2 enthusiasts have recently turned their attention from the console's features to the size of its game cases, sparked by a potential leak from a French retailer. According to Nintendo Life, journalist Felipe Lima discovered a listing for a Take-Two Interactive Nintendo Switch 2 game on Fnac, which included specific dimensions. If these measurements are accurate, the Nintendo Switch 2 game boxes will be slightly larger than those of the original Switch.

A Reddit user, HertzBurst, further illustrated this by posting a side-by-side comparison of the two box sizes. The new dimensions listed are 5.1 inches by 7.7 inches (13 cm by 19.5 cm). While this makes the Switch 2 cases a bit larger than the current Switch game cases, they remain significantly smaller than those used for Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 games. Although not officially confirmed, it's plausible that retailers would receive such details early to prepare for stock displays.

The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to be on the horizon, with speculation pointing towards a launch between June and September. This speculation is fueled by ongoing hands-on events up until June, and statements from Greedfall 2 publisher Nacon suggesting a release before September.

Earlier in January, Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 with a brief trailer that confirmed backwards compatibility and the inclusion of a second USB-C port. However, many details, including the functionality of a new mysterious Joy-Con button, remain undisclosed. While some theories, like the Joy-Con mouse concept, have gained attention, much about the console is still shrouded in mystery.
