Indie studio We Are Muesli has unveiled their latest project, a narrative game titled In Their Shoes, slated for release in 2026 on both mobile and PC platforms. This game has already garnered attention, earning a nomination for the prestigious independent and arthouse games awards 'A MAZE. 2025' in Berlin.

In Their Shoes: A Narrative Game that’s More About Listening

Set against the backdrop of present-day Milan, a city brimming with contradictions, In Their Shoes invites players to step into the lives of seven diverse characters. The game unfolds through 49 short interactive stories, each termed a "Moment," offering a snapshot of a character's daily life.

Each Moment provides an immersive experience into the character's hesitations, daily routines, and those split-second decisions that define their existence. Some stories unfold at a leisurely pace, allowing you to dwell on a character's thoughts, while others demand quick responses, reflecting the urgency of real-life situations.

Unlike typical narrative games, the storytelling in In Their Shoes is intentionally fragmented. As players weave together these scattered narratives, they'll uncover 26 hidden biographical details for each character, creating a rich tapestry of slice-of-life experiences.

We Are Muesli, based in Milan, Italy, has been at the forefront of blending art and storytelling since 2013. Known for their thought-provoking and educational projects, they have crafted experimental visual novels such as CAVE! CAVE! DEUS VIDET and Venti Mesi, artistic cooperative projects like Siheyuan, and narrative escape rooms including Ludmilla and Ventiquattro Elle.
