Minecraft's Vibrant Visuals Update Enhances Graphics on Select Devices

Minecraft has always prioritized its sandbox creativity over visual flair, with its iconic pixelated style taking a backseat to endless customization.

That changes today with the launch of the Vibrant Visuals update for Minecraft, now available on PC, select consoles, and compatible smartphones. However, not all platforms are included, and the classic Minecraft: Java Edition misses out on this upgrade.

For players using Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or specific Android and iOS devices, the Vibrant Visuals update is now live as part of the broader Chase the Skies update.

The Chase the Skies update introduces rideable Happy Ghast creatures to the overworld, a welcome contrast to their fireball-spitting Nether counterparts. Players can also link camels into caravans for resource transport and locate friends quickly using the new Player Locator HUD bar.

For those on older systems like PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or dated Android devices, the Vibrant Visuals option must be manually enabled in the video settings menu. Mojang cautions that performance may suffer on these devices.

To run Vibrant Visuals on PC or mobile, the following specifications are required:

• Android: Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, or Xclipse 530 or higher

• iOS: A12 or M1 or higher

• PC: Running Minecraft on DX12

Splitscreen multiplayer, custom Worlds, and Texture Packs are not supported by Vibrant Visuals at this time.

No details were provided about compatibility with Nintendo Switch or the upcoming Switch 2 in today’s Vibrant Visuals announcement, leaving Nintendo players uncertain about support.

On a positive note, Minecraft is now officially optimized for Xbox Series X/S, five years after the console’s debut.

The Vibrant Visuals update fulfills a long-standing promise from Microsoft, first teased in 2017 with the Super Duper Graphics Pack trailer, which was later scrapped. Initially planned for Xbox One and the then-codenamed Project Scorpio (now Xbox One X), this graphical overhaul has finally arrived.
