The Parabolic Microphone falls under the category of Optional Equipment in *Phasmophobia*, which means it isn't automatically included in your inventory. To acquire this useful tool for your ghost-hunting adventures, you'll need to reach specific levels to unlock and purchase it from the in-game Shop.

Similar to other equipment in *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone comes in three distinct tiers, each offering improved quality and reliability. Unlocking the first tier requires you to reach Level 7. Once you hit this milestone, head to the shop to add it to your equipment loadout, as illustrated above.

The second tier becomes available at Level 31 and will set you back $3,000 for the upgrade. The top-tier, third level unlocks at Level 72, costing $5,000. After unlocking these tiers, you're free to select any version of the Parabolic Microphone for your loadout, with the flexibility to carry up to two, regardless of your party size.

Keep in mind, if you decide to Prestige your character, resetting to Level 1 means you'll need to unlock each tier of the Parabolic Microphone all over again, along with your other equipment.

To utilize the Parabolic Microphone during your *Phasmophobia* contracts, you must first include it in your loadout through the Shop portal, ensuring it's available in the truck upon arrival. Note that in Challenge Mode, the preset loadout might not include the Parabolic Microphone.

Once at the investigation site, pick up the Parabolic Microphone from the equipment wall in the truck, just as you would with any other item. Activate it using the appropriate button, and if you're using the tier 3 version, you'll benefit from an attached radar screen to pinpoint the source of sounds, as shown above.

The Parabolic Microphone is particularly useful on medium or large maps in *Phasmophobia*. It helps you locate the ghost by tracking sounds such as objects being moved, doors being opened, or the ghost's voice itself. This can be a significant advantage over using traditional methods like the temperature gauge or EMF Reader.

Not only does it aid in finding the ghost's location, but it can also assist in completing Optional Objectives that require capturing the ghost's voice. Moreover, certain ghosts like the Deogen or Banshee produce unique sounds that can only be detected with the Parabolic Microphone, providing crucial clues for identifying these specific entities.

That wraps up everything you need to know about using the Parabolic Microphone in *Phasmophobia*. For more tips, guides, and the latest news on the game, be sure to check out The Escapist, including guides on all achievements and trophies in *Phasmophobia* and how to unlock them.
