Marvel Comics is set to relaunch its flagship Star Wars comic series in May 2025. The new series, picking up after the Battle of Jakku and the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, will follow Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa as they strive to establish the New Republic and bring order to a galaxy still reeling from conflict.

Alex Segura, fresh off his Star Wars: The Battle of Jakku miniseries, pens the new volume. Veteran Star Wars artist Phil Noto (Star Wars: Poe Dameron) provides the illustrations, with Noto and Leinil Yu contributing cover art for the debut issue.

Segura and Noto's Star Wars unfolds roughly two years after Return of the Jedi, following the final major battle between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. The New Republic aims to solidify its rule, but faces significant challenges from opportunistic pirates, criminals, and other emerging threats exploiting the power vacuum.

"Having concluded the Galactic Civil War with the Battle of Jakku, we're launching into a new, uncharted era," Segura explained to StarWars.com. "This will feature fresh galactic threats, enemies, and mysteries for our heroes to confront, blending the familiar with the unexpected. The stories will be action-packed, with character moments fans expect, offering new twists on the galaxy while ensuring accessibility for new readers. We're incredibly excited."

Noto added, "Alex has crafted fantastic storylines and characters, and I'm thrilled to bring them to life! It's been a rewarding challenge to depict the classic characters in the post-Return of the Jedi era, without existing film or TV counterparts to rely on. I'm creating new looks while drawing inspiration from the original actors."

Star Wars #1 launches May 7, 2025, coinciding with Star Wars Day celebrations.
