Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, is a game-changer. This powerful card copies the Ongoing effects of your other 1-, 2-, and 3-Cost Ongoing cards in its lane, making it a potent, albeit fragile, addition to your deck. Think of her as a significantly enhanced Mystique. Building a successful deck around Moonstone, however, presents a unique challenge, earning her the apt nickname "the Glass Cannon of Marvel Snap."

After extensive testing, two deck strategies have proven most effective: Patriot and Tribunal builds. This guide will detail both, providing optimization tips for each. For those still undecided about adding Moonstone to their collection, a brief review is included at the end.

Moonstone excels in a supporting role, rather than as the primary win condition. A highly reliable setup utilizes Moonstone within a Patriot-Ultron deck. The focus here is on maximizing the impact of one or two key Ongoing effects, rather than relying heavily on Moonstone's ability alone.

To build this deck, pair Moonstone, Patriot, and Ultron with: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

• Prepare the board for buffs by playing Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
• Utilize one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).

An Alternative Deck for Moonstone

For a more exciting, albeit less consistent, approach, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. This build prioritizes high-risk, high-reward gameplay, using Moonstone as a central win condition. Include: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Here's the optimal play sequence:

1. Use Psylocke to play Moonstone early.
2. Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in Moonstone's lane.
3. In the final round, distribute power across all lanes using The Living Tribunal.

In this setup, Psylocke and Sera reduce costs, enabling earlier plays. Magik extends the match, allowing for Onslaught and The Living Tribunal plays. Captain America and Iron Lad provide backup if key cards aren't drawn in time. While many predicted the Moonstone-Onslaught-Tribunal synergy to dominate, Super Skrull has emerged as a significant counter.

How to Counter Moonstone

Moonstone's vulnerability lies in her reliance on cards in her own lane. Super Skrull effectively neutralizes this strategy. Since Moonstone's release, Super Skrull has become a common counter, along with Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo.

The key weakness is Moonstone's absorption of abilities within her lane. Unless protected by cards like Invisible Woman, Enchantress, Echo, Rogue, or a Super Skrull in another lane, she's easily countered.

Is Moonstone Worth It?

Moonstone is a worthwhile investment for several reasons: 1) Her powerful ability will become increasingly valuable as more synergistic Ongoing cards are released; 2) She's featured in a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, reducing the risk of undesirable pulls; and 3) She offers a nostalgic and exciting playstyle for fans of powerful combo decks.
