"Marvel Rivals to Launch New Heroes Monthly from Season 3"

Marvel Rivals developers have unveiled an exciting roadmap that promises to keep the game vibrant with monthly hero releases and shorter seasons. Dive into the details of their plans beyond Season 2, including new characters and skins.
Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes
New Heroes Every Month

To maintain the game's freshness akin to its launch, NetEase has decided to introduce new heroes on a monthly basis instead of the previous schedule of two heroes per season. This announcement was made by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, alongside plans to adjust the duration of future seasons.
Starting with Season 3, the length of each season will be reduced from three months to two, allowing for a new hero to debut each month. Guangguang elaborated, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

The decision to release heroes monthly comes in response to community feedback and the desire to keep the game exciting. Guangguang noted, "During this time, several discussions on social media have certainly added some pressure on us to keep the game as exciting as it has been since December." The team is also exploring the addition of new game modes to enhance player engagement, with potential implementation in the future. This strategy could lead to the introduction of up to 12 new heroes annually.
While this ambitious plan presents challenges, particularly in terms of balancing the new heroes, Guangguang shared insights on how the team plans to address these issues. In a March 14 interview with PC Gamer, he highlighted the team's reliance on key metric data such as pick rates, win rates, and ability statistics to inform their balancing efforts.
Season 2 Details and Future Plans

Season 2, dubbed Hellfire Gala, introduces players to a new narrative where Marvel Heroes are invited by the upcoming hero Emma Frost to the Mutant haven of the Living Island Krakoa. Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds, will join the game as a Vanguard.
The Hellfire Gala promises a lavish celebration, with the season's trailer showcasing new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant formal wear. This event draws inspiration from Marvel's Hellfire Club, a society of the wealthy and powerful who manipulate global events.

Following Emma Frost's introduction, Season 2.5 will see the arrival of Ultron, a notorious Marvel villain. The trailer for the Hellfire Gala hints at Ultron's invasion, with his robots disrupting the party and signaling the onset of the Age of Ultron. Further details on Ultron's integration into the game are yet to be disclosed.
Thor’s Lord of Asgard and Hawkeye’s Ronin Skins Available Now!
Marvel Rivals took to Twitter (X) on April 4 to announce the immediate availability of new skins for Thor and Hawkeye. Thor's Lord of Asgard skin, inspired by his revival by Odin in the comics, comes with a Rune King bundle that includes the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. Similarly, Hawkeye's Ronin skin, reflecting his vigilante samurai persona from the comics, is bundled with a spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
These updates and future plans underscore NetEase's commitment to supporting Marvel Rivals for a decade and beyond. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest on Marvel Rivals by checking out our dedicated article below!
