NetEase Games is making significant changes to the Marvel Rivals post-launch roadmap, aiming to enhance player engagement by shortening its seasons and introducing at least one new hero every month. This strategic shift was highlighted in the Marvel Rivals Season 2 Dev Vision Vol. 5 video, which detailed the upcoming Season 2.

Season 2, set to launch on April 11, will introduce Emma Frost as the new Vanguard. Mid-season, fans can look forward to Ultron, whose class details will be revealed closer to his release. These new heroes will bring fresh abilities to the game, setting the stage for even more impactful changes starting in Season 3.

In PlaySeason 3, NetEase plans to reduce the length of seasons from three months to two. This adjustment will allow for quicker content updates without altering their commitment to releasing a new hero every half-season. Following Emma Frost's debut, players will have a shorter wait for subsequent heroes, keeping the game's momentum strong.

Guangyun Chen, the creative director of Marvel Rivals, shared in the Dev Vision video that the team has been focused on maintaining the game's excitement since its launch in Season 1. Social media feedback has played a role in pushing for these changes, with Chen acknowledging the pressure to keep the game as thrilling as it was at launch. NetEase aims to fulfill players' fantasies about Marvel Super Heroes by introducing new modes and a diverse roster of characters. More details on these adjustments will be shared before Season 3 begins.

PlayJust hours ago, NetEase revealed details about Marvel Rivals Season 2, which will transition from a vampire takeover theme to a storyline centered around the Hellfire Gala. This shift promises new outfits, maps, and characters, with more information to be released in the coming weeks.

Since its launch in December, Marvel Rivals has been a massive success, amassing 10 million players within three days. The game, a free-to-play superhero team-based PvP shooter, is available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Its launch on Steam was particularly notable, with 480,990 concurrent players. Season 1 in January saw an even higher peak of 644,269 concurrent players, making it the 15th most-played game on Steam.

However, concurrent player numbers have declined since then, which may have prompted NetEase's roadmap changes. Despite this, Marvel Rivals remains a top-played game on Steam, and the upcoming Season 2 and Season 3 launches are expected to boost player engagement.
