Marvel Comics is set to launch a revitalized Captain America monthly series, featuring a fresh creative team and narrative direction. This new storyline will delve into Steve Rogers' early experiences after his revival from suspended animation, notably his very first encounter with Doctor Doom.

As announced at the ComicsPro convention, Chip Zdarsky (renowned for his work on Batman and Daredevil) will pen the series, with Valerio Schiti (G.O.D.S., The Avengers) providing the art and Frank D'Armata handling colors. This marks a reunion for the trio, who previously collaborated on Marvel's 2017 2-in-One.

The series commences shortly after Steve's rediscovery and reintegration into the modern Marvel universe. His initial mission, following his re-enlistment in the US Army, involves a collaboration with the Howling Commandos to infiltrate a Latveria recently seized by a young, ambitious Doctor Doom. While the narrative will eventually transition to contemporary Marvel settings, the events of this initial arc will significantly influence the ongoing storyline.

Zdarsky shared his enthusiasm, stating, "I've been a huge Captain America fan for years. After writing the seasoned, older Cap in Avengers: Twilight, working on the main Captain America title feels incredible! We're exploring Cap's early modern era experiences with a surprising twist! I'm thrilled to share this, especially with Valerio and Frank's phenomenal artwork."

He further elaborated on his approach: "I'm tackling this like my Daredevil run, aiming for a grounded, human portrayal of Cap in this new world. Steve Rogers represents the best in us, and I want that to shine through on every page."

Schiti expressed his excitement, commenting, "Captain America is one of my all-time favorites. Reuniting with Chip and Frank after Marvel 2-In-One is fantastic, and we're crafting a story that blends heart, action, and entertainment perfectly! Surprisingly, I found myself focusing more on Steve Rogers, the man, rather than just Captain America."

He continued, "Chip's script is so engaging that readers will connect deeply with Steve's inner world. He embodies truth, justice, and freedom. He fought Nazism, 'died,' and returned to fight again. That's immense pressure, especially considering he's only in his late twenties in the era we're exploring!"

Captain America #1 is slated for release on July 2nd, 2025.
