"Mario Kart World's Cow: Burgers and Steak on the Menu"

Taking a break from the whirlwind of news about tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, let's dive into something lighter and more fun for your Friday: IGN recently attended a Nintendo event in New York where they got hands-on with the much-anticipated Mario Kart World. Amidst the excitement, they confirmed an intriguing detail about the new playable character, the Moo Moo Meadows Cow—she can indeed eat burgers and steak, among other foods!

For those not in the loop, Mario Kart World has been making waves since its announcement, especially with the introduction of the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a racer. Previously a mere background character in a single Mario Kart track, the Cow has quickly captured the hearts of the internet, spawning countless memes and fanart. However, a curious issue arose following the reveal in the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer where Mario was seen enjoying a burger. Given that burgers are typically made from beef, fans were eager to find out if Cow, whose kind might be considered a source of beef, would partake in eating beef herself.

At the Nintendo preview event, IGN got the answer. The food items seen in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations throughout the game's courses, functioning like a drive-thru where racers can grab take-out bags much like they would pick up item boxes. These bags can contain various foods including burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts. And yes, the Cow can consume them all.

During the session, IGN observed Cow eating various items, including the burger in question. However, the effects of these foods on Cow remain a bit mysterious. While other racers change costumes upon consuming these items, Cow seems unaffected. This raises questions: Is she simply enjoying the taste of beef, or is there a hidden power-up from burger consumption that Nintendo hasn't disclosed yet? Or could these be veggie burgers and Beyond meat kebabs?

IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but has yet to receive a response. Perhaps the team is preoccupied with the New York event, and not because the query might be considered a bit out there. Regardless, be sure to check out IGN's preview of Mario Kart World, where you can see Cow in action in the video version.
