Magic: The Gathering - 2 New Cards from Aetherdrift

Leading off our preview is Cloudspire Coordinator, an uncommon creature that gives players a clear glimpse into the red-white color identity of Aetherdrift. This card represents the legendary Cloudspire Racing Team from the plane of Kylem—a location originally introduced in Battlebond, Magic’s 2v2-focused set from 2018. Mechanically, the card supports one of the set’s core themes: vehicle-based gameplay. With a power of 3, it can crew vehicles itself, or activate its ability to generate Pilot tokens that crew vehicles for you. Whether you're drafting or building a red-white deck, this card brings utility and synergy to the table.

Then there's the more splashy reveal: Count on Luck, a rare enchantment that delivers a clean, powerful effect. For just three red mana, this enchantment triggers at the beginning of each of your turns, exiling the top card of your library and letting you play it that turn. Known as "impulse draw," this mechanic provides consistent card advantage in mono-red aggressive or tempo-heavy strategies—as long as you can use the card immediately. If not, it returns to the bottom of your library, making timing and planning key.

PlayAs a bonus, we’re also offering a sneak peek at *Count on Luck* in its extended-art and First-Place Foil variants. While extended-art versions are a familiar treat—featuring full-frame artwork without the standard borders—the First-Place Foils are brand-new to *Aetherdrift*. These shimmering gold cards will be available exclusively via randomized buy-a-box promo packs included with every *Aetherdrift* booster box. All rares in the set, along with 10 full-art lands, will receive this special foil treatment.

Aetherdrift launches globally on February 14, 2025, with prerelease events kicking off the excitement on February 7. The set will be available in both physical and digital formats (via MTG Arena and Magic: The Gathering Online). Want to dive deeper?
