Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold, demonstrating significant player interest in this action-packed classic. Despite initial technical hiccups and some controversy, the game's sales figures clearly indicate strong consumer demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a vibrant hack-and-slash title where players wield a chainsaw as Juliet Starling, a cheerleader battling a zombie horde. While the original developer didn't handle the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved gameplay features.

This sales milestone, achieved several months after the September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, was announced by Dragami Games via a recent tweet.

The game casts players as Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun by the undead. Fast-paced chainsaw combat against waves of zombies and unique bosses delivers a thrilling experience reminiscent of Bayonetta and other third-person action games.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million copies. This initial popularity likely stemmed from the unique collaboration between renowned game designer Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the game's compelling narrative.

While future plans for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, such as additional content or a sequel, remain unannounced, the positive sales figures bode well for remasters of other cult-classic games. This success follows the recent release of another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, which has also brought a beloved action-horror experience to modern platforms.
