Lego Unveils New Minecraft Movie Sets Featuring Familiar and Unexpected Mobs

Ahead of the live-action Minecraft movie starring Jack Black, Lego has announced two new sets offering glimpses into the film's anticipated mob roster. As reported by Games Radar, these additions to the existing Minecraft Lego line include figures based on Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's The Garbage Man.

The first set, the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring ($49.99, 491 pieces), hints at a gladiatorial battle sequence. This set features Momoa's character facing off against a zombie riding a giant chicken – the scale of which remains ambiguous, possibly depicting a baby zombie on a regular-sized chicken. The chicken is notably twice the height of The Garbage Man.

The set also includes Steve, his companion Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a treasure chest, and a small viewing stand equipped with weapons.

The second set, The Ghast Balloon Village Attack ($69.99, 555 pieces), showcases the Nether's Ghast in a large-scale battle within a standard overworld village. This set includes a villager minifigure, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem.

Both sets launch March 1st, a month before the Minecraft movie's theatrical release on April 4th. The film's September reveal sparked considerable fan criticism regarding the contrast between live-action characters and the CGI-animated world. However, the director and producer, in a November interview with IGN, expressed preparedness for such reactions, assuring fans they were "ready for everything."
