May 14,25

*League of Legends* has added an exciting new minigame to its client, available until the end of April. If you're familiar with *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay mechanics of Demon’s Hand in *League of Legends* quite intuitive.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. From the main screen, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will launch you into the story introduction and your first round of the card game.

Your hand is displayed in the bottom row of cards on the screen. In the bottom right corner, you'll see your health, coins, and percent crit chance. Above that is your Sigil box, which can hold up to six Sigils at once, though you'll start with none. Remember, health does not regenerate after each battle; you'll need to visit tent locations on the map to restore a percentage of your health.

The enemy is represented by the top card, with its health shown in the bottom right and damage in the bottom left of the card. To the left of the enemy card is an attack coin, indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy attacks you. On the left edge of the screen, a book lists all possible hands you can play and their base damage in a standard round.

How To Play Demon’s Hand in League of Legends

To attack, you'll play poker hands, each with a unique name in Demon’s Hand but following familiar poker rules. The ultimate hand to aim for is The Demon’s Hand, a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands and their corresponding poker terms:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

The damage you deal includes the base damage of the hand plus the numerical value of each card. However, if the enemy has a special ability negating a specific suit, cards of that suit won't contribute to the damage, though you can still play them.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils are key to enhancing your gameplay. You can purchase them during store phases, marked by coins on the map. You earn coins by defeating enemies, which you can then spend on Sigils. Each Sigil has a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during a round. Some Sigils boost specific hands, such as increasing damage from Dyads, while others might give you more turns before the enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.

That's everything you need to know to master the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, keep an eye out for the upcoming April Fools skins to enjoy in Summoner’s Rift.
