On March 7th, 2025, the eagerly awaited survival horror co-op FPS, Killing Floor 3 (KF3), faced a significant delay. Developer Tripwire Interactive announced on the game's official Bluesky account that the release, initially set for March 25th, 2025, has been pushed back to a yet-to-be-determined date later in the year. This decision follows a closed beta test that failed to meet expectations.

"We’ve made the difficult decision to delay Killing Floor 3’s launch to a later date in 2025. After analyzing feedback from our recent closed beta, it's clear we fell short of our goals. Our aim is not only to push the franchise forward but also to preserve the core experience that fans cherish," Tripwire stated in their Bluesky post. They reassured the community that the team is diligently working on resolving issues such as performance and stability, UI/UX, lighting, and the feel of weapons that were highlighted during the beta.

The community's reaction was swift and vocal, with many players expressing their disappointment on social media. The beta build was criticized for being "clunky and clumsy," and described as an "unpolished, glitch-filled mess." Reddit user Captain_Pugman voiced a common sentiment, questioning, "At what point did you forget what made Killing Floor special? Because right now, Killing Floor 3 seems to be everything except what it should be: a true Killing Floor game." Additional feedback focused on the shift away from the series' traditional horror elements towards a futuristic sci-fi theme, alongside the restriction of not being able to freely choose characters and classes separately, as they were locked during the beta.

Tripwire expressed optimism for the future, concluding their announcement with, "We are eager to showcase a more refined version of Killing Floor 3. We'll keep you updated as soon as we have more details to share. Thank you for your patience and continued support."

In response to the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro provided clarification on the Tripwire Interactive Killing Floor 3 forums about the fate of digital pre-orders. Once the delay is updated across all platforms, the refund process will commence.

For users on PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Game Store, pre-orders will be automatically canceled and refunded without any action required from the user. However, PlayStation users in the United States will have the option to either cancel their pre-order for a refund or keep it for the new release date. If no action is taken within a specified timeframe, the pre-order will default to cancellation and a refund will be issued.

Steam users who pre-ordered KF3 will need to manually initiate a refund by canceling their order and requesting a refund through Steam's support system. Those who pre-ordered through third-party platforms or vendors not mentioned above will need to contact those services directly, as they will be subject to the respective refund policies of those platforms.
