In *Fields of Mistria*, while you can forge friendships with nearly everyone, romance is a special connection reserved for a select few NPCs. With the v0.13.0 update, you now have the option to pursue romance with 11 different characters, including the intriguing Caldarus.

Each romanceable NPC has a heart meter that grows based on your interactions with them. To foster a romantic relationship with a particular character, engage with them regularly and take note of their likes and dislikes. Start by **talking to them daily** as you go about your town tasks. A daily chat can significantly impact their heart gauge. Don't forget to complete any requests they post on the town board, as this offers additional opportunities to boost their affection.

You can also **gift them an item they enjoy once per day**. These gifts are specific to each character, and you can either gather or craft them. On their birthday, make sure to give them an item they absolutely love for an extra boost to their heart meter. Consistent efforts in these areas will see their heart gauge rise swiftly.

Keep in mind that, currently, NPC heart gauges max out at **six hearts**. After reaching this level, a cutscene with your chosen NPC hints at budding feelings, but not a fully developed romance yet. According to the game’s roadmap, future updates will introduce 8 and 10-heart events, as well as options for marriage and children, ensuring your Mistria romance has room to flourish.
