Hyper Light Breaker, the 3D rogue-lite successor to Hyper Light Drifter, introduces a compelling multiplayer component. This guide details how to team up with friends or join random online matches.

Playing with Friends in Hyper Light Breaker

To play co-op with friends, you'll need to create a private multiplayer room. In the Cursed Outpost hub, interact with the counter to the left of Pherus Bit. This opens the Multiplayer menu.

Select "Create Breaker Team." Enable "Password Required" and set a password. Invite up to two friends via your platform's social features (PSN, Xbox, Steam supported). The game supports three-player teams.

Friends receive an invitation in the "Invitations" tab of the Multiplayer menu. Alternatively, they can find your team listed under "Join Breaker Team" and join directly using the password.

Random Online Matchmaking in Hyper Light Breaker

For solo players, Hyper Light Breaker offers public matchmaking. In the Multiplayer menu:

Select "Join Breaker Team," then choose "Join Random Public Breaker Team" at the bottom.

The game will connect you to an available public team. A short load screen follows.

To leave a multiplayer session, return to the counter in the Cursed Outpost, open the Multiplayer menu, and select the "Disconnect" option (appears only when in a session). Alternatively, you can quit the game.
