Switch 2 Japan Price Lower Than Global Version
Switch 2 Will Feature Dual Language System Options

The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch with distinct pricing between Japan and international markets. The console will offer two variations: a Japanese-language exclusive version (available only in Japan) and a global multi-language edition. The Japanese variant will retail for approximately $330, while the international version carries a $449.99 price tag - creating over a $100 differential. This pricing disparity reflects the yen's current weakness against the US dollar, which currently makes imports less attractive for foreign buyers.
Japanese residents will maintain access to both console versions. However, the Japanese-language model will remain exclusive to Japan, requiring users to set their Nintendo Account region to Japan. This version exclusively supports Japanese language and only permits access to Japanese-region software through the Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo recommends international users and those preferring multiple languages to opt for the global multi-language version. Complete details about the international edition will be announced on April 4.
Switch 2 Launch Will Utilize Lottery Sales System

Consumers hoping to purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 must participate in a lottery system through the My Nintendo Store. Retailers across Japan will begin accepting reservations and lottery entries starting April 24, subject to availability. The My Nintendo Store lottery features these specific requirements:
- Minimum 50 hours of playtime on Nintendo Switch software (excluding demos and free content) as of February 28, 2025
- Active Nintendo Switch Online subscription with at least one year of cumulative membership at time of application
Complete application procedures will be detailed on the My Nintendo Store website on April 4.
