Insider: GTA 6 special edition and additional GTA Online payments can cost up to $150

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of Grand Theft Auto, spearheaded the trend of $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns exist that this pricing model might extend to Grand Theft Auto VI.

While the standard edition of GTA VI might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a price point of $80-$100, industry insiders suggest a premium edition priced between $100 and $150 could be offered, potentially including early access.

According to Tez2, Rockstar/Take-Two's strategy involves selling GTA Online and Red Dead Online separately. However, GTA VI will be the first title to launch with a separate online component, while the story mode will be bundled in a "complete package."

This dual-release strategy necessitates a price adjustment. The cost of the online component will influence the base price. Furthermore, the price of the story mode upgrade for those purchasing only the standalone online version remains unclear.

By reducing the price of the online version, Take-Two could attract players with limited budgets. This strategy is advantageous because these players may later upgrade to access the story mode. Conversely, some players might want the story mode but lack the funds for the upgrade.

Take-Two could then leverage a subscription model similar to Xbox Game Pass, integrating GTA+. Players choosing continued gameplay over saving for an upgrade would generate consistent revenue, further benefiting Take-Two.
