Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its selection of characters, known as Breakers. This guide details how to unlock new Breakers and provides an overview of their unique playstyles, focusing on the early access version.

Unlocking New Characters

To unlock new characters, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). Access Crown arenas using Prisms, found throughout the map (indicated by golden diamond icons). After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. While nine characters exist, only a few are currently unlockable via this method.

All Characters and SyComs

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core abilities, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion

Vermillion begins with the Gunslinger SyCom, focusing on ranged combat. Critical Rail shots guarantee a subsequent critical hit. His unlockable Tank SyCom prioritizes melee combat, rewarding perfect parries with increased armor and offering superior defensive stats.

Lapis

Lapis also starts with a Rail-focused SyCom, Lightweaver, boosting Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom enhances core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro

Goro is a ranged character whose Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging while shooting. His unlockable Sniper SyCom increases critical hit rate. Goro excels in damage but lacks defensive capabilities.
