Silksong's Hornet Cloak Mystery Intrigues Fans

Dec 27,25

IGN recently revealed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at an Australian museum exhibit in September 2025, sharing official sprite sheets from the long-awaited game. The internet's response was... predictably chaotic.

"In what scenario would they need a sprite of Hornet without her cloak?" questioned one Reddit user in a thread analyzing the exclusive artwork.

Among dozens of sprites showing protagonist Hornet in various combat and idle poses, one particular image depicts her casually carrying her cloak underarm (shown in our close-up below, visible on the original sheet's right side beneath the top ring):

"When would the game ever require her to casually hold her cloak like a tired office worker? This feels cursed," commented one redditor.

"Is this actually real? There's no way this made the final game. Is this seriously her default design?" wondered another, while others exclaimed: "WHY WOULD THEY EVEN CREATE THIS SPRITE?"

Then the discussion took... an enthusiastic turn.

"Guess we won't need mods for this," declared one user, while another joked: "This automatically bumps the rating to Mature."

"HORNET PLEASE PUT YOUR CLOAK BACK ON THIS IS TOO REVEALING," protested a thread starter, with replies like: "This feels wrong" and "completely unnecessary."

"I am not a fan of this," stated another user plainly.

The most reasonable explanation might involve cloak upgrades or customization - but until confirmed, Hornet enthusiasts can speculate freely.

The game recently appeared in Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct, with Team Cherry confirming the 2025 release window to fans' relief. With playable demos coming to Melbourne's ACMI museum starting September 18th, some speculate a potential August launch - though nothing official has been announced.
