IGN has exciting news for fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong. The much-anticipated game, developed by Team Cherry in Adelaide, South Australia, will be playable at Australia's national museum of screen culture, ACMI, in Melbourne starting September 18, 2025. This opportunity comes as part of the museum's Game Worlds exhibition, which will not only allow visitors to play the game but also offer insights into its design and artistic direction.

Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, co-curators at ACMI, expressed their enthusiasm about featuring Hollow Knight: Silksong as a centrepiece of the Game Worlds exhibit. They highlighted the intricate details of the game, from the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet's movements and attacks to the logic behind its challenging boss fights. "We are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game... We’re so grateful to Team Cherry for trusting us with their work, and so excited to share that work with you!" they stated.

As part of the announcement, ACMI also shared a sprite sheet from Silksong, showcasing the game's detailed design elements that will be displayed in the exhibition.

This development has sparked speculation among Hollow Knight fans regarding the game's release date. Given that it will be playable from September 18, there's a possibility that Silksong might launch even earlier, perhaps in August 2025. The anticipation has been building, especially after Silksong made a brief appearance at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct last month, where Team Cherry confirmed a 2025 release window.

Originally announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, with versions for Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 to follow, Silksong has been the subject of numerous intriguing teases over the years. Team Cherry started 2025 with a mysterious hint involving a chocolate cake recipe, fueling hopes among fans for a re-reveal in April.
