Monster Hunter Wilds Rey Dau Boss Fight Guide

Rey Dau, the first dragon monster you'll encounter in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. Aim for its head, which has a 4-star weakness, or its wings, with a 3-star weakness, for maximum impact. Avoid targeting its sturdy torso and well-protected legs. Instead, consider hitting its tail if the head is too challenging to reach. For status ailments, all are effective except Stun and Paralysis, given its lightning nature.

Use a Flash Pod

To swiftly take down Rey Dau, deploy a Flash Pod to temporarily stun the monster. This gives you a window to land critical hits, especially when it unleashes its lightning attack. Target its glowing red horns in Focus Mode for significant damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

Surviving Rey Dau's onslaught requires gear that enhances your elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces damage and offers resistance to Lightning and Fire. Complement this with a meal that boosts your elemental resistance. If dodging is a challenge, stay close to Rey Dau's legs, as it primarily attacks the areas in front and behind it.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's mobility during the fight means you must be aware of your surroundings. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to stun the monster briefly. Be cautious when it returns to its nest, as it can follow up with a devastating lightning attack that can stun you. Patience is key to avoid a fatal shock.
