GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5's Michael De Santa (Ned Luke) assures fans that GTA 6 is worth the wait, even predicting a staggering first-day revenue. Discover what's expected for GTA 6 and its development.

Rockstar Games: An Unexpected GTA 6?

Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will rake in $1.3 billion on its first day. In a Fall Damage YouTube interview, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, highlighting Rockstar Games' unpredictable and innovative approach.

He emphasized patience, stating, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day earnings in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. Market research firm DFC Intelligence projects over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with $1 billion attributed solely to pre-orders.

Returning GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?

Luke also offered insight into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online since its launch, contrasting with Trevor and Franklin's appearances.

Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor) previously suggested Trevor's death as a narrative device in a ScreenRant interview (January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite their enthusiasm, no official confirmation exists regarding the return of these characters.

GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York highlighted GTA 6's unique unpredictability as an open-world game.

He emphasized the unforeseen possibilities arising from player interactions, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."

York believes GTA 6 is likely in its in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting the game is at least playable and extensively tested internally.

Rockstar Games initially unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, remaining tight-lipped since. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, no official release date has been confirmed.
