"GTA 5 Enhanced Edition Now Worst Reviewed on Steam"

Apr 02,25

Rockstar's latest iteration of *Grand Theft Auto 5*, dubbed *GTA 5 Enhanced*, hit Steam on March 4, but it hasn't received the warm welcome the company might have hoped for. With a 'mixed' user review rating and only 54% of the 19,772 reviews being positive, this update is struggling to win over its audience. In stark contrast, the original *GTA 5* on Steam, which is now unlisted and can't be found through searches, boasts a 'very positive' rating. *GTA 5 Enhanced* currently stands as the least favorably reviewed GTA title on Steam, underperforming even compared to *Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition*, which holds a 66% positive review score.

The *GTA 5 Enhanced* update is a complimentary upgrade for PC players, bringing features that were previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions of *GTA Online*. This includes access to new vehicles and performance enhancements at Hao’s Special Works, encounters with wildlife, and the ability to purchase a GTA+ Membership. Additionally, players benefit from enhanced graphics and quicker loading times. All existing PC owners of *GTA 5* can upgrade for free and transfer their Story Mode and Online progress.

Despite the promise of these upgrades, many players are facing significant issues with account migration, a process that should be seamless but has become a major source of frustration. This problem is at the core of the negative feedback, with many users expressing their disappointment over the inability to transfer their game progress.

One frustrated player shared, “ ‘The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time,’ If you think I'm throwing away nearly 700 hours of gameplay on one character so that you can make a few more bucks off me, then you can lick my anal orifice clean. This is an objective downgrade from the ‘old’ version. Gonna pretend this was never released and continue to enjoy Legacy version until the new game comes out when I'm 60.”

Another review echoed these sentiments: “I'm leaving a negative review mainly due to Rockstar deciding that some accounts should arbitrarily not be able to migrate, and if you ask for help from support, they just say they can't do anything about it.”

A third user lamented, "I can't migrate either of my two accounts. R* support is completely useless and can't help. With the game being over 10 years old I am sure as hell not going to completely restart all my progress in Online just to get marginally better graphics (if that) and HSW and whatever other minuscule stuff they added."

Despite these challenges, *GTA 5 Enhanced* remains incredibly popular, with a peak concurrent player count of 187,059 since its launch on Steam. However, these issues have raised concerns among PC gamers about the upcoming release of *Grand Theft Auto 6*. The fear is that the problems experienced with *GTA 5 Enhanced* may foreshadow similar issues when *GTA 6* eventually launches on PC.

*GTA 6* is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2025 exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, leaving PC gamers waiting for a later release. A former Rockstar developer tried to address the delay in PC availability in December 2023, urging PC players to trust the studio despite the controversial launch plans.
