Hyper Light Breaker is packed with essential resources that players need to master, and among the most coveted are Golden Rations. These are the rarest resources in the game and crucial for some of the most significant upgrades you can unlock.

Unfortunately, the game doesn't provide much guidance on materials and resources, leaving players to discover them through trial and error. If you're eager to bypass the guesswork, here's a reliable way to locate Golden Rations.

Where to Get Golden Rations

In the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker, you can acquire Golden Rations through two primary methods: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often hold resources that can be used for purchases or unlocking upgrades, and you might just find Golden Rations inside. You'll recognize a chest containing Golden Rations by the distinctive Golden Ration icon displayed above it.

Areas marked with Prisms, represented by a golden diamond icon on the map, are hotspots for Golden Ration chests.

The second method involves cycle resets. A cycle refers to each instance of the Overgrowth, resetting when your Rez count hits zero. When you exhaust your revives, you have the option to either retry the map in exchange for resources or reset the cycle entirely at the Cursed Outpost. Upon resetting a cycle, you'll receive a score, and ranking up can earn you Golden Rations as a reward.

What are Golden Rations For?

Golden Rations are indispensable for progression in Hyper Light Breaker. They are primarily used to unlock permanent upgrades at your home base, allowing you to enhance your characters or unlock new vendor services.

Moreover, Golden Rations are essential for unlocking Sycoms, which define your chosen Breaker's stats and core passive ability. Sycoms are pivotal in shaping your Breaker's playstyle, making them highly valuable.

Upon obtaining your first Golden Ration, we strongly recommend investing in the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This upgrade can significantly ease future runs, especially given the game's harsh penalties for combat errors.

If you die during a run, rest assured that any resources you've collected, including Golden Rations, will remain in your inventory. However, the weapons, amps, and perks you've equipped will suffer one pip's worth of damage, which could lead to their permanent destruction.
