After months of speculation and leaks, the curtain has finally been lifted on Pokémon Champions, a fresh multiplayer battle-centric Pokémon game. This exciting project is the result of a collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works, a newly formed partnership between The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the developers behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Champions zeroes in on the thrill of Pokémon battles, embracing the series' "core-style battles" and enabling players to engage in online combat. The trailer showcased the inclusion of both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, hinting at a comprehensive coverage of various Pokémon battle types and generations.

PlayOne of the standout features of Pokémon Champions is its integration with Pokémon Home. This connectivity allows players to transfer Pokémon from other games into Champions, providing a new purpose for the many Pokémon that have been stored away in boxes from previous generations.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, Pokémon Champions does not yet have a release date. At launch, the game will support Latin American Spanish alongside other languages traditionally featured in Pokémon titles.

Key art for Pokemon ChampionsThe game, initially hinted at as Pokémon Synapse during last year's "Freak Leak" of internal Game Freak information, is confirmed to be co-developed by Game Freak and ILCA. While early leaks suggested a multiplayer focus and drew comparisons to Splatoon, the final product appears to diverge somewhat from these initial speculations.
