In a recent installment of Nintendo's Creator's Voice series, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the Final Fantasy Remake series, shared exciting news about the future of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. This enhanced PS5 version of the 2020 PS4 release, which serves as the first chapter in the expansive remake trilogy of the iconic 1997 PS1 RPG Final Fantasy VII, is set to make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade not only boasts upgraded graphics and lighting compared to its PS4 counterpart but also includes the Intermission DLC, which introduces players to the spirited ninja Yuffie and her adventures in Midgar. Currently available on PS5 and PC, the game is now poised for a Switch 2 release, thanks to the console's advanced capabilities.

Hamaguchi expressed enthusiasm about the potential of the Switch 2, stating, "With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs." He highlighted the convenience of playing the game in handheld mode, noting, "Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work." This portability, he believes, will enhance player engagement and facilitate sharing experiences with others.

The Switch 2 version will also feature GameChat, allowing players to communicate with friends and share screens in real time. Hamaguchi is thrilled about the prospect of the game on a portable system and hopes to foster a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.

While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi's closing remarks hint at broader possibilities: "I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2." This suggests that future installments, including Rebirth and the final entry in the trilogy, might also find their way to the Switch 2.

This move marks a significant return for the Final Fantasy series to Nintendo platforms, echoing its origins on Nintendo consoles before transitioning to the PlayStation 1 with Final Fantasy VII in 1997. With the remake, fans can look forward to experiencing this beloved title on Nintendo hardware once again.
