Pitt's F1 Tops World War Z as Career Best

Dec 03,25

F1 is a massive blockbuster, and for its lead actor Brad Pitt, it has become a remarkable career milestone. The film continues to dominate the global box office, having now exceeded $540 million worldwide to become Pitt’s highest-grossing film ever.

Previously, that record was held by Pitt’s 2013 movie World War Z, which earned a strong $540 million globally. But the racing drama F1 has raced past that figure, pulling in an impressive $545 million in just six weeks since its theatrical debut—pushing the zombie thriller down to second place.

F1 is also Apple’s most successful big-screen release to date. By comparison, Ridley Scott’s Napoleon earned $218 million worldwide, while Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed drama Killers of the Flower Moon brought in $157 million globally. F1 now stands as Apple's highest-grossing film, making it especially fitting that the project is also Pitt’s most financially successful one.

Still, it’s somewhat surprising that F1 and World War Z are Pitt’s top-grossing films—especially considering he’s been a household name for decades. It may seem unusual that he hasn’t yet reached the $1 billion mark with a single movie, but then again, he’s never starred in a superhero blockbuster (which is also surprising). The actor has appeared in many hit films over the years, demonstrating just how notable this new record is.

F1 is still playing in select cinemas, though it will inevitably arrive on Apple TV+ in the near future. If we had to guess, it could speed its way onto the streaming platform before the end of the year. After all, who wouldn’t want to watch fast cars in action during the holidays?
