"The Exit 8: 3D Liminal Space Simulator Now on Android!"

May 07,25

The Exit 8 has now made its way to Android devices, blending elements of horror and exploration into a unique gaming experience. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this game is available for $3.99. It's not just another walking simulator; it's a journey filled with eerie twists that will make you second-guess every step you take.

A Creepy Walking Adventure

In The Exit 8, players find themselves navigating a seemingly endless underground passageway reminiscent of a Japanese metro station. The game traps you in a loop where the tiles, lights, posters, and even the solitary man walking towards you repeat endlessly. The core challenge is to spot anomalies amidst this repetition. A poster might display a different graphic, lights might flicker unusually, or you might even encounter something as stark as a river of blood flowing where the floor should be. The gameplay revolves around noticing these subtle changes and reacting swiftly.

If you notice something out of the ordinary, you must turn back. If not, you continue moving forward. The objective is to reach the eighth exit without making any mistakes, which means correctly identifying and responding to eight anomalies in a row. Fail to do so, and you'll have to start over from the beginning.

The Exit 8 Lets You Soak in a Surreal, Unsettling Atmosphere

Inspired by the concept of liminal spaces and the Backrooms, the game's design captures the essence of real Japanese metro stations, such as Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo. This setting creates a claustrophobic and repetitive atmosphere that heightens the game's unsettling feel. Players are encouraged to engage actively with their surroundings, meticulously scanning for the smallest details that could indicate danger or a shift in reality. The way the game challenges your memory and perception ensures that each playthrough feels unique.

Originally launched on PC in November 2023, The Exit 8 took approximately nine months to develop. Upon its release, it garnered 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
