The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) has finally introduced a feature fans have been eagerly awaiting for over a decade: subclasses. As part of ESO's 10th Anniversary celebrations, Zenimax Online Studios unveiled the much-anticipated subclass feature during the ESO Direct 2025 event on April 10. This update comes after years of player feedback requesting the ability to swap classes without starting over.

Now, upon reaching level 50, players can retain one skill line from their base class and swap out two others with any of the six available classes. This opens up over 3000 unique combinations, empowering players to tailor their playstyles more precisely than ever before.

ESO Game Director Rich Lambert expressed confidence in the new feature, emphasizing that the team has thoroughly tested it and is comfortable with the resulting power levels.

Seasons of the Worm Cult

Zenimax Online is shifting towards a seasonal content model, which Studio Director Matt Firor believes will allow for more experimental and varied content releases. This approach aims to address player feedback while continuing to weave compelling narratives.

The first season, "Seasons of the Worm Cult," is a long-awaited sequel to the original Molag Bal storyline, set to unfold on the new Isle of Solstice. Here, players will delve into the resurgence of the Worm Cult. Producer Susan Kath noted that while this season will span most of the year, future seasons will typically last between three to six months. The developers also plan to revisit past storylines, with a Dark Brotherhood-themed season on the horizon.
