Elden Ring Player Will Fight Messmer Daily Until Nightreign Releases
An Elden Ring player's impressive challenge: conquering Messmer the Impaler daily until Elden Ring: Nightreign launches. This dedicated gamer, known as chickensandwich420, is tackling this formidable boss each day, employing a different weapon each time and aiming for flawless, no-hit victories, all while playing on NG+7.
This self-imposed marathon began on December 16, 2024. Initially planning a broader FromSoftware boss challenge, chickensandwich420, a university senior, prioritized his studies, focusing instead on the demanding Messmer encounter. The boss's notorious difficulty, with reports of 30 to 150+ attempts for victory even by highly skilled players, makes this undertaking truly remarkable.
The challenge, however, has a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, chickensandwich420 will pivot to other games. This sets a potential limit of over 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe, was announced at The Game Awards 2024 with a planned 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's history, however, the release date remains uncertain. Will chickensandwich420's dedication be rewarded with Nightreign's timely arrival, or will a delayed release bring an end to his epic Messmer marathon? Only time will tell.
