EA's highly anticipated Skate revival is incorporating microtransactions into its latest alpha test, ahead of its official release. As reported by Insider Gaming, developer Full Circle has introduced a virtual currency, San Van Bucks, used to purchase cosmetic items. This move appears to be a test run of the in-game store, with Full Circle aiming for a positive player experience during purchases. The developer's message to alpha testers emphasizes the importance of feedback to refine the early access launch experience.

It's important to note that Full Circle has warned alpha testers that all progress will be reset before early access begins. Any purchases made during the alpha will be refunded as San Van Bucks and re-applied at the start of early access.

Skate's early access launch is slated for 2025. Initially announced during EA Play in 2020 as being in very early development, Full Circle has maintained consistent communication with the community through closed playtests and updates via their "The Board Room" video series. The official game title, simply "skate," was revealed in 2022, alongside confirmation of its free-to-play status across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms.
