EA: Madden and FC Could Gain 'Real Energy' on Nintendo Switch 2

As you might expect, EA is keenly interested in the Nintendo Switch 2 as a promising platform for its games. During a recent financial call, CEO Andrew Wilson was directly questioned about Nintendo's next-generation console. He hinted at EA's plans to bring a significant portion of its game library to the new console.

Wilson specifically highlighted EA's lucrative sports franchises, such as Madden and FC, suggesting they could find "real energy" on the Nintendo Switch 2. He also mentioned The Sims as another title that could thrive on the console.

"Anytime a new console enters the marketplace, it's beneficial for us as it enables us to reach and engage new players," Wilson explained. "Historically, our franchises have performed exceptionally well on Nintendo platforms. We anticipate that titles like FC, Madden, and others could resonate strongly on this platform, much like they have in the past."

He further elaborated on The Sims, noting, "When you consider a game like The Sims and the My Sims cozy bundle, which exceeded our expectations with 50% of all players being new to EA, it represents a tremendous opportunity for us."

"Although nothing is set in stone in our current models, we expect that every time a great new console hits the market, it opens up access to new players and communities. We have the intellectual property that can capitalize on this," Wilson concluded.

Are you planning on getting a Switch 2? ---------------------------------------

It's no surprise that EA plans to launch Madden and FC on the Nintendo Switch 2. However, fans are eager to know what versions of these games they will get. Historically, EA has offered "legacy" versions of FIFA on the original Switch, but with the rebranded FC franchise, they have been striving for feature parity. Given the increased power of the Switch 2, it's possible that FC 26 could closely resemble its counterparts on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

With Nintendo's announcement of the Switch 2, a clearer picture of its game lineup is emerging. Rumors abound about a slew of third-party titles headed to the console. In an interview with IGN, the developer of Civilization 7, Firaxis, expressed intrigue about the Switch 2's rumored Joy-Con mouse mode. French video game and accessories manufacturer Nacon, known for titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, has confirmed they have games ready for the Switch 2. Additionally, the much-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is rumored to be in the works for the new console.

As for Nintendo's own offerings, a new Mario Kart is in development. More details are expected to be revealed at a Nintendo Direct in April.
