In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, there's no direct sprint button; your character will naturally sprint after running for a few moments. While sprinting is useful, navigating the expansive battlefields to reach other officers swiftly is crucial for victory. This is where your horse becomes invaluable, available for summoning in both the overworld and during battles. Riding your horse not only speeds up your travel but also allows for dynamic hit-and-run combat tactics. Let's explore how to acquire your first horse, enhance its abilities, and switch between different horses.

How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

To obtain your first horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll receive it for free during Chapter 1. After completing the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle, a merchant will appear in the overworld on your journey to the Battle Of Guangzong. You'll find this merchant northeast of Wan Castle but before reaching the camp, standing next to his horse. Simply engage in conversation with him, and he'll gift you the horse, which will be automatically equipped.

To summon your horse and mount it instantly, press down on the left joystick if you're playing on a console, or press the 'V' key on a keyboard.

How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Your horse gains experience points (XP) based on the missions you complete while it's equipped, regardless of whether you actively use it. XP is awarded for completing main story battles and missions, but not for Skirmishes. Missions are identifiable by a red diamond icon with a soldier in the center, representing medium-length engagements. The total XP your horse earns is influenced by the duration of the battle, how much you ride your horse, and your use of it to charge into enemies. As your horse levels up, it unlocks unique buffs at various levels, with each horse having different enhancements.

How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Your first horse comes equipped by default, but you'll have the opportunity to acquire and switch to other horses. You can manage your horses in the Battle Preparation menu, which is the last option listed on the left side of the screen. Each horse offers unique perks, and some are naturally faster or more advantageous than others, making it wise to switch when you acquire a new one. To obtain new horses, you must maximize the peace level of a region, after which a new horse will be available as a reward at a nearby waypoint.
