Dune Awakening’s Latest Update Creates Challenges

Compensating for Lost Bases and Equipment

Dune Awakening developer Funcom has assured players that they will be reimbursed for lost bases and equipment following the latest update. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on July 9, the team confirmed they are actively addressing the issue and provided further details on their official website.

The most recent patch, launched on July 7, altered the Deep Desert layout, which unintentionally transformed the PvE zone into a PvP environment. This shift resulted in the loss of multiple bases and equipment, leaving many players surprised and frustrated.

They shared, "We are working to reimburse vehicles and items (to the best of our ability) to players who were affected. You can expect the returned materials, items, and vehicle parts to appear in the in-game 'Claim Rewards' section by the end of this week."

The developers also mentioned they are enhancing their tools to better identify and compensate for lost items, but requested patience due to a growing backlog of support tickets. "Our goal is to resolve support tickets as swiftly as possible, including those closed shortly after launch when we were unable to fully compensate players," they added.

Funcom emphasized, "The development team has also been working to fix the root causes of item loss. A dedicated group is focused on reducing vehicle and item loss during server crashes, disconnections, server mesh transfers, and map transitions."

Despite these setbacks, the game continues to gain support, earning "Mostly Positive" reviews on Steam. At Game8, we awarded Dune Awakening a 74 out of 100 for its strong survival gameplay and expansive open-world experience. That said, improvements are still needed in melee combat, performance, and server stability. For a full breakdown of our thoughts, see the article below!
