Last year's Switch release of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince was a delightful surprise, despite some technical hiccups. Its charm and addictive gameplay easily surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the platform, rivaling the excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2. While a PC port was anticipated, a mobile release came as a pleasant shock. Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince ($23.99) will arrive on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, complete with all previously released DLC, including the Digital Deluxe Edition content. See the trailer below:

Comparison images showcasing the game's appearance on mobile, Switch, and Steam are available on the official Japanese website. Here's one example:

The Steam and mobile versions will omit the real-time online battle functionality from the Switch edition.

The Nintendo Switch version is currently priced at $59.99 (standard) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). As a huge fan of the Switch version, I eagerly anticipate reviewing this re-release on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck. This swift mobile port is a welcome change from the typical lengthy delays seen in the Dragon Quest series (e.g., Dragon Quest Builders). The mobile price is set at $29.99, and the Steam version at $39.99. Pre-register on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

Have you conquered Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on Switch? Will you be diving in on mobile or Steam on September 11th?
