DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter

The dedicated DOOM community continues to push boundaries, showcasing the game's remarkable adaptability across diverse platforms. A recent feat by NyanSatan demonstrates this perfectly: they successfully ran the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter.

The adapter, as NyanSatan explains, utilizes iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game. A MacBook was necessary for firmware transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.

Meanwhile, news on a new DOOM iteration reveals a focus on accessibility. DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players to significantly adjust the game's difficulty. This includes modifying demon aggression, enemy damage, projectile speed, and even the overall game tempo and parry timing. Executive producer Marty Stratton highlights the studio's commitment to broad accessibility.

Stratton also confirmed that understanding the narratives of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal doesn't require prior experience with either game.
