Mar 21,25

Assassin's Creed Shadows of Mordor can be challenging, but thankfully, you can adjust the difficulty to suit your skill level. This guide covers everything you need to know about the game's difficulty settings.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Difficulty Levels Explained

Assassin's Creed Shadows of Mordor offers four difficulty settings:

  • Story: Designed for a relaxed experience, combat is significantly easier. Enemies react slowly and don't coordinate attacks, making it ideal for players prioritizing narrative over challenge.

  • Forgiving: A step up from Story mode, combat remains manageable. Enemies still avoid coordinated attacks, allowing for a more forgiving yet engaging experience.

  • Normal: The default setting, requiring a balanced approach to combat and stealth. Strategic thinking and careful planning are key to success.

  • Expert: This setting presents a significant challenge. Enemies are aggressive, deal substantial damage, and demand precise stealth tactics and consistent gear upgrades.

Difficulty Tuning

While the four preset difficulty levels provide a good starting point, you can further customize the experience. Access the Gameplay tab in the settings menu, then select Difficulty Tuning. Here, you can independently adjust the difficulty for both combat and stealth, allowing for a personalized challenge.

You can also enable "Guaranteed Assassination," which allows for one-hit assassinations regardless of Naoe's Assassin Mastery tree upgrades.

How to Change Difficulty

Changing the difficulty is simple. Pause the game, open the menu, navigate to Settings, then the Gameplay tab. Adjust the difficulty as desired, and return to the game.
