Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Game Delay

Crytek has confirmed a restructuring initiative involving staff reductions. The company, facing financial difficulties, has unfortunately laid off approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce.

Simultaneously, Crytek announced a temporary halt to development on the next Crysis game. This decision, reportedly made in Q3 2024, redirects resources to the ongoing development of Hunt: Showdown 1896.

The studio explored reassigning affected staff to other projects, but this proved impractical. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future focus is on expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content, while the new Crysis title is indefinitely delayed. Affected employees will receive severance packages and career assistance.

While acknowledging the challenges, Crytek remains positive about its long-term prospects, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
