First Deadlock update of 2025 is surprisingly small
Valve's back from their New Year break, and developers are rolling out patches across their game portfolio. Following Deadlock's shift away from bi-weekly updates, we anticipated a substantial patch, but Valve opted for a lighter approach to start the year.
This initial 2025 patch focuses solely on balance adjustments for Yamato. His Shadow Transformation received a damage scaling reduction and a lowered attack speed bonus at level one. Further nerfs impacted Frenzy, Berserker, and Restorative Shot abilities, while Alchemical Fire underwent minor revisions.

A larger, more comprehensive patch is anticipated, though the timing remains uncertain. Predicting the release date is currently difficult.
Deadlock's player count has experienced a noticeable decline recently, possibly due to the popularity of Marvel Rivals. However, a consistent online player base of 7,000–19,000 remains respectable for a game still in its deep beta phase. It's important to remember that Valve hasn't yet revealed any release dates or details regarding its monetization strategy.
