Behaviour Interactive has unveiled details about its new Killer, Springtrap, showcasing abilities that immerse Five Nights at Freddy’s fans in Dead by Daylight’s chilling world, set for release on June 17, 2025.

Behaviour shared insights with IGN about its latest horror crossover before today’s public test build (PTB). The reveal highlights Springtrap’s Five Nights at Freddy’s-inspired powers, introduced earlier this month, and his unique jump scare mechanic, a fresh addition to Behaviour’s asymmetrical horror title.

The studio describes this crossover Chapter as “one of the game’s most ambitious yet,” driven by Springtrap, a menacing yellow rabbit dubbed The Animatronic in Dead by Daylight. Though steeped in Five Nights at Freddy’s lore, Springtrap’s debut as a playable character allowed Behaviour to reimagine his role creatively.

Springtrap wields a massive pizza knife as his main weapon, paired with a fire axe for his Power. The axe doubles as an AOE tool, exposing Survivors’ locations. A well-timed throw can lodge it in a Survivor’s back, setting up a Five Nights at Freddy’s-style jump scare when Springtrap retrieves it.

Enhancing the experience, Behaviour includes Matthew Lillard, star of the Five Nights at Freddy’s film, who lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional outfits include the Legendary Glitchtrap, Very Rare Clown Springtrap, and Toxic Springtrap, alongside Freddy Fazbear-themed t-shirts for Survivors.

Springtrap fulfills years of fan anticipation as a Killer, but the Chapter’s appeal extends further. While no new Survivor is introduced, players can navigate the new Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map, a detailed recreation of the iconic restaurant with unique twists from The Entity.

The map features key areas like the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, with Freddy’s band, including Bonnie and Chica, making an appearance. This eerie map offers Dead by Daylight players new spaces to evade danger, complete with hidden Easter Eggs and jump scares to uncover.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s vibe extends beyond the new map. Across all maps, fleeing from Springtrap triggers the spawning of security doors, cameras, and a special office. These elements, more than nostalgic nods, let Survivors monitor Springtrap’s movements—if battery power holds up.
