Darth Jar Jar Joins Fortnite: Fans Stunned at 1M XP Requirement

Fortnite's Star Wars season has just introduced one of its most anticipated skins yet, but with a twist that's left the community buzzing: Darth Jar Jar. This iconic skin, drawing from a galaxy far, far away, became available in Fortnite's Shop over the weekend, but with a significant caveat. Players must first earn 1.28 million XP to unlock the ability to purchase Darth Jar Jar, and even then, the skin costs 1500 V-Bucks, roughly equivalent to $13.

While Fortnite has previously locked skins behind XP requirements, this move is particularly notable given the high anticipation for Darth Jar Jar during this condensed Star Wars season. With the season set to end on June 7, time is running short for players to grind the necessary XP, adding an extra layer of challenge for those who have already completed their battle pass.

The reaction from the Fortnite community has been mixed. One fan expressed frustration on Reddit, stating, "I was so hyped for this skin and was fine with it being behind a pay wall, after all it is just another skin. But this whole locked behind an XP wall is ridiculous. You want me to earn the right to give you money? I immediately closed the game." This sentiment captures a common grievance among players, who feel the XP requirement adds an unnecessary hurdle to what should be a straightforward purchase.

Adding to the controversy, Darth Jar Jar is released alongside a standard Jar Jar Binks skin, which does not require XP but still costs 1500 V-Bucks. For those wanting both skins and their accompanying accessories, the total cost could reach up to 6,500 V-Bucks. "Regular Jar Jar alone is 20 dollars," another fan lamented. "If you want both that s**t is 52 entire ass dollars for something that ought to have just been 1 skin with 3 styles."

However, some players have defended the approach. One fan shared their experience on Reddit, noting, "It wasn't that hard to earn the XP; it took me around 8/9 hours. I had no plans on Saturday. I did it in 3 sittings, but all in one day. I played Rocket Racing and Ranked and did Alignment Challenges to farm as much XP as possible. Nothing is making anyone get every item in the Shop; you can just pick and choose, and the fact he was just 1500 V-Bucks when Deathstroke was 1,800 V-Bucks, I wasn't bothered at all by the price. I was pissed off at first, then I realised after a couple hours that I had over 300,000 XP already."

As Fortnite's Star Wars season continues, the focus shifts to Mandalorian warriors, with a new customizable Mandalorian skin expected in the game's Shop soon. The season is set to conclude with a live narrative event on June 7, which many speculate will involve players interacting with the Death Star that's loomed over the game's Island since the season began.

Amidst these developments, Epic Games' ongoing legal battle with Apple has intensified, with Fortnite recently facing challenges in returning to the iPhone App Store in the US.
