Unlocking Caldarus as a Romanceable Character

To begin your romance with Caldarus, you must break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. This requires offering four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Completing the offering triggers a cutscene. The Mines Priestess demands the farmer's departure, leading to a confrontation. Caldarus intervenes, transforming into his human form, bestowing the Dragon’s Breath spell upon you before retreating to the Deep Woods. This transformation unlocks the ability to gift him items and engage in daily conversations. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to permanently reveal his temple on your map.

Caldarus' Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

Caldarus begins with six hearts—the current maximum—upon becoming romanceable. While no dedicated heart events exist yet, the story features two key cutscenes. The first, a dream sequence early in the game, introduces Mistria's magic system. The second shows Caldarus saving the farmer after the Fire Seal is broken, revealing his human form. Both are part of the main storyline.

The March 2025 update introduces a date opportunity during the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28.

This end-of-summer event lets you date any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts. Gift Caldarus the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28, then meet him afterward to initiate the event. The date involves a conversation at the Summit about stars, Mistrian traditions, and the nature of connections. The conversation delves into deeper philosophical themes before concluding with an invitation to continue stargazing at his temple.
